2011 Stockholm Fashion Week opens

2011 Stockholm Fashion Week opened in Stockholm, the Swedish Capital, on Monday.

Swedish Minister for Gender Equality Nyamko Sabuni, the best dressed female politician in Sweden selected by the local press, opened the fashion week.

"Today the unique becomes the norm, the diversity makes the fashion industry dynamic," she said at the opening ceremony.

Anna Eriksson, project manager for the fashion week, told Xinhua after a press conference that a total of 32 brands including Filippa K, Ida Sjostedt, Dagmar and Tiger of Sweden will be on display during the fashion week.

"Swedish fashion is really a wearable fashion, with good designing and good quality and very good price point, I think that characterize the Swedish fashion," Eriksson said.

"Compared with those in Paris, London and New York, it is really wearable, it's not crazy enough to have a lot of details, it is not everything got twist to it, but it is really good quality and good price point," she added.

Swedish fashion export hit a new record in 2010 with a total of 11.3 billion kronor (about 5.8 billion U.S. dollars), according to a report from the Swedish daily Svenska Dagbladed.

Swedish Trade Minister Eva Borjling has vowed to invest more in the fashion industry and double the figure in the next few years, the report said.
